Patriarchal Blessing for John Bartholomew October 23, 1900 A blessing given by Patriarch John Ashman, on the head of John Bartholomew B.P. Son of Joseph Bartholomew, and Polly Benson Bartholomew. Born in McLean Co. Illinois. U. S. A. Sept 11 1845 Brother John Bartholomew, I lay my hands upon your head in the name of
Jesus Christ, and by authority of the Holy Priesthood vested in me. I
seal upon you a Patriarchal Blessing. Thou art of the seed of Joseph through
the loins of Ephraim. And an heir to the Holy Melchizadec Priesthood.
And to all the Blessings of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For you kept your
first estate, and was in the grand Council of Heaven, when the glorious
Plan of Salvation was revealed to the sons and daughters of God. Who shouted
for joy and you shouted with them. It was there that you was chosen and
ordained an High priest after the order of the only Begotten and set apart
to take a tabernacle on the earth, in the dispensation of the fullness
of times. To be the Savior of your Father's House. Both of the living
and the dead. And you and your posterity will accomplish one of the greatest
works that ever was performed on the earth. For some of the noblest spirits
that ever came on earth have come through your lineage. Thou art of a
chosen seed, a prince in the House of Israel, you have done well thus
far and kept the faith. And hereafter you will be appointed to set in
order the churches prior to the coming of the Son of Man, and will be
honored, both of God , and men. You have been blessed with the spirit
of discerning of spirits to a great extent. But not in its fullness. But
you will obtain it hereafter. The gift of healing has also been manifested
in your ministration, and the day will come, when on whomsoever you lay
your hands, that are not appointed unto death will be healed. And by the
Power of the Priesthood, hereafter you will confer these blessing upon
your sons. Now Brother grieve not the spirit that is in you. For it is
the spirit of God. And you have power now to lay your hands upon them
and bless them by the power of the Priesthood, which you hold. For you
can confer upon them a Father's Blessing. Which will be a help to them
in time of need. Be not afraid to Bless, but stand forth in the majesty
of your Priesthood, and bless your posterity, and it will be effectual.
For whatever you will seal on earth will be sealed in the heavens. Now
I bless you with health and with strength and with length of days. And
by virtue of the High and Holy Priesthood vested in me I seal you up unto
Eternal life, and against the hour of temptation to come forth in the
morning of the first resurrection crowned a king and a priest unto God.
