A blessing given by Patriarch John Ashman on the head of Eliza Roxie Bartholomew. Daughter of John Edward Metcalf and Mary Waslon Metcalf. Born in Hull Yorkshire England Aug 17th 1850. Sister Eliza Roxie Bartholomew in the name of Jesus Christ and by virtue of the authority of my high and holy calling I lay my hands upon your head and I seal upon you a Patriarchal blessing. Thou art of Joseph through the loins of Ephriam and an heir of salvation For you kept your first estate and was valliant in the cause of Christ. It was then that you was chosen to take part in the dispensation of the fullness of times. Even to become a savior of the living and the dead of your fathers house. And when you took your place in the church of God the angels of heaven rejoiced over you and you have been brought from you native land to the land of Zion for a wise purpose in God for your spirit is one of the noble spirits that God showed unto Abraham and said these I will make my rulers and the day will come when you will reign and rule with your husband as queen and priestess in the house of Israel forever for you like Mary that sat at the Saviors feet have chosen the better part and you will have great joy in your posterity and rejoice because of the noble works that will be performed by them For you Sons will be clothed with the Holy Priesthood as with a garment and lift up their voices as with the voice of a trump and thousands and tens of thousands will be converted to the Lord and thy daughters will be honored among many nations. And to your greatness and that of your posterity there shall be no end. You will be blessed with an inheritence in the center stake of Zion. You have many testimonies of the truth but there is one greater still you will yet bear the same testimony that the Prophet Joseph bore that you know that God lives. Sister there is a glorious future before you therefore lift, lift up your heart and bless God and bless the day that you was born because of your children for some of them will never be stained with sin for thou art a mother in Israel in very deed and thou will be called an elect lady for thou art of the chosen seed and when your geneology is made known to you by the angels of heaven you will find that you have come down through an unbroken line of the Priesthood from Adam. And I seal upon you all the blessings of the new and everlasting covenant. And if you desire it you shall live to see the coming of the Son of Man and the return of the ten tribes from the north country and witness some of your posterity administering blessings unto then. Now Sister I seal upon you the blessing of health and strength and long life and I seal you up unto eternal life to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection in the name of Jesus Christ amen
