Born in Steuben county, State of New York, U. S. A., on the 12th day of February, A.D. 1816, blessed under the hands of Patriarch John Smith at Macedonia, Hancock County, State of Illinois, the 11th day of March, A.D. 1844.

Beloved sister, I lay my hands upon they head to bless thee as a Father, not because thou hast no father, but because he hath given thee to another. Thou art of the same lineage as thy companion and entitled to the Priesthood in common with him. Thou shalt share in all his blessings and glories and be a comfort to him in all his afflictions and help him to accomplish the great work whereunto he is called. Thou shalt strengthen his hands and encourage his heart in all things he shall undertake, and when he has finished his mission and returned, thou shalt be seated at the table with him, and have man and maid servants to do thy business, and it shall be the happiest day of thy life. Thy name shall be had in honorable remembrance to the latest generation because of the multitude of thy offspring and thy great faith. Thou shalt have faith to heal the sick and open the eyes of the blind in thine own family and thine own sex, and do many mighty works when there is no elder present. Thou shalt assist thy companion in redeeming his and thy dead friends. Thou shalt live to see the winding up scenes of this generation and be with thy companion not only in time but to all eternity, with all thy children and friends to inherit a joint heirship and glory with Jesus Christ. If thou art faithful thou shalt inherit all these blessings, with all that thou canst desire, for I seal these upon thee in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
